Attendees at Questex’s 16th Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange Encountered Mickey, Minnie, Fireworks and Even an Eclipse

NEW YORK, April 23, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — The highly anticipated 16th Global Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (GMITE) took place April 7-10, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, which brought North American meeting planners and incentive buyers together with global travel suppliers for an extraordinary experience filled with one-to-one meetings, educational sessions, and dynamic networking receptions.

Hosted at the newly renovated Caribe Royale Resort and graciously supported by VisitOrlando, GMITE offered attendees a unique platform to forge invaluable connections and explore innovative planning ideas in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant travel destinations. Unique to the one-to-one meeting experience, GMITE provided each supplier with a private suite to conduct a total of 1,500 appointments, fostering in-depth discussions and facilitating the exchange of ideas and opportunities.

Day two, attendees enjoyed an interactive dialogue between SITE CEO Annette Gregg and MPI Academy VP, Jesse States, where attendees could ask relevant industry questions.

Plus, on the afternoon of day one, the solar eclipse over Orlando reached roughly 60% and all guests were encouraged to head outside and enjoy the phenomenon in the beautiful 72 degree weather.

Each day, after the one-to-one meetings were completed and guests had their time to relax and unwind, buyers were treated to resort site visits, starting with the sprawling Disney Swan and Dolphin, where they enjoyed cocktails and canapes during their tour, a meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, ending at VUE, the rooftop space for the evening reception with suppliers. The reception, hosted by the Swan and Dolphin, boasted live music, fabulous dining options, and was capped off by multiple fireworks shows for all guests to enjoy.

On day two, buyers toured the ultra-luxurious Waldorf Astoria Orlando and the gorgeous Hilton Signia, which then also ended with a fabulous sunset reception with suppliers on the lawn between the two properties, complete with live music, specialty cocktails, and incredible food, which capped off an incredible end to their journeys.

Final Day of Questex’s IHIF EMEA 2024 offers a positive outlook for the future of hospitality investment, with strong focus on European partnerships

BERLIN, April 17, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Questex’s International Hospitality Investment Forum EMEA (IHIF EMEA) last day marked the convergence of all discussion threads, culminating in a focus on innovation and inspiration aimed at empowering our community to tackle the market head-on, implement their visions, and explore new opportunities.

Following the breakout sessions and roundtables, the general session delved into the power of partnerships, featuring discussions with GHA, Radisson, and Booking.com. He also confirmed the group had already signed a property in Dubai, and was looking at Marrakech as well as Saudi Arabia, with plans for “two or three” hotels there ideally.

Questex’s IHIF EMEA 2024 Day 2 is Full of Insightful Discussions and Partnerships

LONDON, April 16, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Day two of Questex’s International Hospitality Investment Forum EMEA (IHIF EMEA) brought deep insights into macro travel trends, supply and demand, the drivers of profit, how capital is attracted and invested, how global level deals are done and how changing trends influence what owners, brands and operators do with the customer offering.

The Capital Talks panel session is one of the most eagerly anticipated spots on the programme. In a discussion moderated by Kenneth Hatton, managing director, head of hotels, Europe at CBRE, IHIF EMEA delegates learned about the underlying trends supporting hospitality investment. Representatives from KSL Capital Partners, Starwood Capital and AXA Investment Managers talked about the finer points of the current hospitality landscape.

Josh Cleveland, partner & head of EMEA, real estate, StepStone Group said that hospitality’s “strong inflation hedge” had convinced the firm to invest in the asset class in an increasingly significant way.

Hilton intends to establish “many more partnerships” with independent travel and hospitality businesses, said the company’s president and CEO Chris Nassetta from the stage. “You will see many more partnerships on the experiential side. Why? Because our Hilton Honors members, particularly, want more experiences, and the more we can offer them those adjacencies, the more we think they will remain loyal and we’ll get an incremental share of wallet,” he said, in conversation with consultant Nick van Marken.

The day closed with compelling thoughts from operators on how to differentiate the hospitality offering to maximise returns.

The presentations delivered market-making intelligence to underpin the industry’s decision making in a year which the conference believes has both promise and opportunity.

HAMA Awards
The highly anticipated HAMA Awards was presented today by IHIF EMEA and the Hospitality Asset Managers Association (HAMA) Europe and co-sponsored by Questex Hospitality and HotStats.

Event Takes Place 15-17 April at the InterContinental and Pullman hotels in Berlin

LONDON, April 15, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Questex’s International Hospitality Investment Forum EMEA (IHIF EMEA) commenced with presentations from world-class experts in hospitality investment. The event takes place at the InterContinental and Pullman hotels in Berlin through 17 April 2024. With over 2,500 attendees attending IHIF EMEA 2024, it is one of the largest gatherings of industry professionals in the region.

IHIF EMEA 2024 kicked off with the Investor Council meeting during which investors expressed optimism on the direction of the transactions market compared to six months ago but noted that growing geopolitical tensions present a serious risk to both consumer demand and investment. Despite these tensions as well as pressures in relation to the labour market, investors continue to seek to increase their allocation to hospitality as hotels continue to enjoy revenues way ahead of 2019 levels, with several members of the council spotlighting the lifestyle segment as being very attractive.

On the main stage, the first day of speakers focused on the macro. Despite the short-term geopolitical challenges there was talk of the growing middle class across the world, especially in countries like India with HSBC’s global economist James Pomeroy, highlighting the trend: “International travel in particular will see Indian consumer demand grow 12% per year, every year, for the next 20 years. This economy will completely transform the way we think about global growth,” Pomeroy said.

IHG Hotel Resorts CEO Elie Maalouf said that a “wave of retirements” coming now and “which will go on for decades of the healthiest and wealthiest generations ever” is set to drive international leisure travel.
